Privacy Policy
Effective: May 1, 2026
The short version: we collect as little as possible, we never sell your data, and we built Kin so that the most sensitive data — your family's conversations, memories, and history — never leaves your home in the first place.
Who we are
Kin is made by New Standard Technology, Inc. ("New Standard," "we," "us," or "our"). We make AI software designed to run locally on your hardware, keeping your family's data private and under your control. Questions? Contact us at hello@newstandard.ai.
What we collect and why
When you request access or join our list
We collect your email address. We use it to notify you when Kin is available, send product updates, and communicate about your access. You can unsubscribe at any time. We do not share it, sell it, or use it to build a profile on you.
When you purchase Kin
We collect your name, email address, and payment information. Payment is processed by our payment provider. We do not store your full card number. We use your contact details to process your purchase, deliver your license, and handle any support you need.
When you visit our website
We use Google Analytics to understand how people use the site: pages visited, time spent, and general location by region. This data is aggregated and anonymous. We do not use it to identify you individually.
When you use Kin at home
This is the important part. Kin stores your AI conversations, your preferences, your family's memories, and all related data locally on the hardware in your home. That data does not go to our servers. We do not have access to it. We do not want access to it. That is the entire point of Kin.
What we do not do
- We do not sell your personal information. Ever.
- We do not share your information with advertisers.
- We do not build behavioral profiles for marketing purposes.
- We do not use your data to train AI models without your explicit consent.
- We do not send you marketing emails from third parties.
Who we share data with
We work with a small number of service providers who help us operate: our payment processor, our email delivery provider, and Google Analytics. We only share what is necessary for them to do their job. We will share your information if required by law, or to protect the rights, safety, or property of New Standard, our customers, or others.
How long we keep your data
We keep your email address for as long as you are on our access list or have an active license. We keep purchase records for as long as required for legal and accounting purposes, typically seven years. You can ask us to delete your data at any time.
Your rights
You have the right to:
- See what personal information we hold about you
- Correct information that is inaccurate
- Ask us to delete your information
- Opt out of marketing emails at any time
- Request a copy of your data in a portable format
To exercise any of these rights, email hello@newstandard.ai. We will respond within 30 days.
California residents
If you are a California resident, you have additional rights under the CCPA, including the right to know what categories of personal information we collect and the right to opt out of the sale of your personal information. We do not sell personal information. For any CCPA requests, contact hello@newstandard.ai.
Residents of the European Economic Area and UK
If you are located in the EEA or UK, our legal basis for processing your personal data is your consent (for the access list and newsletter) and the performance of a contract (for purchases). You have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
Cookies
Our website uses cookies for analytics and to remember your preferences. You can disable cookies in your browser settings. Some features of the site may not work correctly if you do.
Changes to this policy
If we make material changes, we will notify you by email if we have your address and update the effective date at the top of this page.
